Bob Barr did what I believe to be the best interview of the campaign thus far for Franklin Pierce University on October 21st. The interview was extremely substantive and revealed a few insights I’ve always been curious about such as Barr’s true position on opening up another investigation of 9/11 and how he ended up being tricked into doing that interview for the Borat movie.
The interview is typically amateurish as it is for the campus television station, but it is well worth your time. This is the interview that should be on NBC Nightly News or some other main stream media outlet. It’s probably too long for the soundbite culture those outlets live in though.
The interview is in three parts. Watch them below.
VIDEO Below. Last night on Saturday Night Live’s NBC special Will Ferrell came back as George Bush and Tina Fey joined him as Sarah Palin. This is probably the best SNL skit of the season thus far.
Will Ferrell reprises his impression of George Bush, which was one of the most famous in SNL history. In the bit, Bush endorses McCain-Palin with some of the best humor and satire I’ve seen in awhile on SNL… probably since Ferrell was one of the Saturday Night Live regulars. Watch the video below.
Humor, especially satire, is always the best escape from the futility of watching the markets tank and the country move further away from the principles of liberty.
Barr saved the best for last. Rounding out his big media Monday he caps it off with a discussion of libertarianism as viewed by Bob Barr. Much like last year’s Ron Paul interview on the same program the candidate was given time to answer the questions completely and candidly. Check out the video below.
Bob Barr’s appearance on CSPAN’s Washington Journal is now available on the CSPAN.org site. The segment includes some of the more “colorful” callers we have come to expect from the show. Barr continues to do a great job getting the liberty message out to voters through his media blitz of a day today.
Tonight catch Barr on PBS with Jim Lehrer between 6pm and 7pm Eastern.
Bob Barr kicked of his big media day with his appearance on FOX Business News this morning. The interviewer asked Barr a few interesting questions, one of which was regarding his view of the role of the Federal Reserve.
He continued his mantra that it is an unelected private organization that has the power to control our economy. He, of course, didn’t say that he advocates abolishing it outright even though he believes that should be the ultimate goal (according to a recent interview in Reason magazine).
Once again Barr shows that he is the better liberty and freedom candidate than the major party twins.
On ABC’s 20/20 Friday night John Stossel fired a cannon for liberty. He put together an hour long report using the current political climate to promote the philosophy of liberty and libertarianism. I can’t not recommend this enough. I also recommend you spread it to everyone you know.
This should be required viewing for all voters. It is in 6 parts.
Ron Paul appeared on FOX News today with Neil Cavuto and reiterated his fear bout the G20 meetings this weekend. Again he is worried about the potential for creating an international central bank.
Ron Paul’s Campaign For Liberty published three short videos on specific economic topics today. Ron Paul speaks to us about restoring confidence in the markets, market intervention, and whether or not this marks the end of capitalism. Watch the three videos below.
Bob Barr discusses the state of the economy on CNN today with John Roberts. In doing so he calls for Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to be “replaced”. Watch the exchange below.
There is not much to say about the debate. It was status quo. They both talked about the issues and did some standard attacks, but not much new occurred. McCain proposed one new thing I haven’t heard before: allowing the Treasury Secretary to buy out bad home loans. Wow, and he also says he won’t raise taxes on anyone. I suppose the hidden inflation tax doesn’t count though does it John? Perhaps he should consult Ron Paul for his next debate appearance.
McCain also seemed to move away from the normal Republican base quite a bit in this debate. He promoted, on more than one occasion, when he voted against Bush/Cheney on things like climate change. On foreign policy he softened his tone a bit. It seems he was trying to appeal to the middle of the road undecided voters. It remains to be seen if he was successful.
Alex Castellanos, a GOP media strategist and CNN pundit pretty much sums up the debate in the video below.
Castellanos worked for Mitt Romney and George Bush in 2004. He is known as the “father of the modern attack ad.” Here he attacks both candidates to the joy of limited government third party candidate supporters of Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin everywhere.
“McCain wants to buy everyone a house, and Obama wants to buy everyone health care. I think that’s remarkable for a country that is broke.” – Alex Castellanos
