Barr saved the best for last. Rounding out his big media Monday he caps it off with a discussion of libertarianism as viewed by Bob Barr. Much like last year’s Ron Paul interview on the same program the candidate was given time to answer the questions completely and candidly. Check out the video below.
Bob Barr’s appearance on CSPAN’s Washington Journal is now available on the CSPAN.org site. The segment includes some of the more “colorful” callers we have come to expect from the show. Barr continues to do a great job getting the liberty message out to voters through his media blitz of a day today.
Tonight catch Barr on PBS with Jim Lehrer between 6pm and 7pm Eastern.
On ABC’s 20/20 Friday night John Stossel fired a cannon for liberty. He put together an hour long report using the current political climate to promote the philosophy of liberty and libertarianism. I can’t not recommend this enough. I also recommend you spread it to everyone you know.
This should be required viewing for all voters. It is in 6 parts.
According to the Miami Herald, the debate between third-party candidates on Sunday has been canceled:
The troubled presidential debate for third-party candidates scheduled for Sunday at Columbia University in New York was canceled Friday after none of the four candidates had committed to the event.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, several of the candidates decided not to participate in the debate at the last minute,” said Lauren Salz, a student with the Columbia Political Union, which was hosting the debate.
Independent Ralph Nader, Libertarian Party nominee Bob Barr, Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney and Constitution Party nominee Chuck Baldwin were expected to participate in what was billed as a “historic” event.
Barr claimed a conflict while McKinney opted for an online debate originally scheduled for that evening. Baldwin was reluctant to travel to New York. Nader was willing to participate, aides say, but, seeing the debate falling apart all week, held back.
McKinney, it turns out, also had another reason for staying in her hometown of Atlanta, said her running mate, Rosa Clemente. McKinney is attending the Black Panther Party annual reunion.
It’s a shame. I would have at least liked to see either Balwin or Barr (if not both) up on stage spreading the message of liberty.
Bob Barr appears on CNN’s American Morning with John Roberts and talks about the debate last night and laments that America is no longer a leader for free market capitalism in the world, but instead we are being led by Europe’s “bastion” of socialism. On this point he echoes some of Ron Paul’s own recent rhetoric on nationalizing financial institutions.
Barr goes on to describe his poll numbers in various states and his relevance in the election.
Bob Barr discusses the state of the economy on CNN today with John Roberts. In doing so he calls for Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to be “replaced”. Watch the exchange below.
Forget the VP Debate, it was for the birds! Besides the upcoming Break the Matrix Third Party Debate, you can have this debate right now! Let me show you with my Sarah Palin and Ralph Nader example. Plus an idea to change American politics for millions of young Americans with viral media.
<< For those unaware, please read George Dance’s critical article “Third-party debate in early October” on the upcoming Third Party Debate in early October. Date is not yet announced. >>
Fellow columnist Jonathan Cymberknopf reported in his late September article “Ralph Nader and Bob Barr banned from the media” that the media has stopped covering the Third Party tickets who have a mathematical chance to win, and this does indeed seem to be the case. These candidates in alphabetical order are:
He is mostly correct; the mainstreammedia is completely ignoring these candidates. However, viral media has the potential to take the third party’s message to millions, spreading far TRUER democracy, and revealing the current election of McBama as the staged sham that it truly is. The cool facet about it is that if it starts, its spreads like wildfire because everyone shares with everyone else. On the flip side, there is only one month left, but with the financial world reeling, McBama-supported idiotic bailouts and bank failures galore, there is a real chance this could have a lasting effect on American politics for a long time to come, if it is done correctly. Here is the idea.
The Barr campaign has produced its first television commercial. It is a decent introduction to the general principles of Bob Barr. Perhaps in a future commercial the Barr campaign can utilize his “interview” with Borat in some type of commercial, although it may be too offensive to some. They can use Borat as a metaphor for the status quo government we have today of saying one thing and doing another.
Ok, I’m kidding, but only partially. Perhaps, I’ll attempt to make the Barr-Borat commercial myself. In the meantime watch the actual campaign commercial below.
Let’s start with the deadly soda, because we definitely all need to work together to proactively hunt down dangerous felons like this. Let me paint the picture. It’s an easy one. We’ve all had parents, at least two, anyway. And some of us have even cared for them when they got sick. And most of us have had a soda or two in our lives. So this should be pretty easy to picture. Natalie Walters, a lady who routinely takes her father to the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center for treatment, also decided to callously take advantage of her right to travel, and regularly visited the cafeteria. Her routine was to refill her mug with Diet Coke for anywhere from $1 to $1.50, depending on the cashier at the time and his or her ability to accurately type in the right codes and digits on a keyboard. Well, imagine her surprise on Aug. 20, when Walters filled her mug with Diet Coke, [and] the clerk charged $3.80.
“I told her that cannot be right and asked to talk to the manager,” Walters said.
The manager told Walters the price is correct.
Walters decided she didn’t want to pay that much and offered to return the soda, she said. But the manager told her there was no way to accept the returned soda and Walters had to pay. Walters refused, and she said she was angry by this point, and she poured the soda onto the counter.
The manager banned Walters from the cafeteria.
But, wait, there’s more! A LOT more! Officials realized their debt to the safety of the community, and felt morally compelled to go through every piece of cafeteria and hospital videotape, tracking her insurgent movements, tracing her back to her ill father; going through his medical records; and justifiably upsetting him by interrupting him at his own dental appointment to let him know that Big Brother requested his daughter’s presence.
