The two libery loving Republicans have been defeated in their respective primaries today. Amit Singh almost pulled it out, but his opponent pulled away at the end as the final votes in Fairfax County were counted.
Vern McKinley was up against a juggernaut in 28 year incumbent Frank Wolf so his landslide loss was not surprising. At least Vern had the guts to go up against this neo-conservative big government Republican and give true Reagan principled conservatives a voice in the election.
Vern and Amit are heroes of liberty and heroes of liberty are heroes of mine. Thank you both so much for the sacrifices you’ve made to give Virginia voters a true limited government choice.

Today is primary day in Virginia’s 8th and 10th congressional districts, which means it is time once again to vote for limited government, freedom, prosperity, and liberty. I will be working the polls for Vern McKinley today along with several other grassroots supporters. I’ve called all my friends in the 8th district and made sure they will get out and vote for Amit Singh today. I have put out about 50 McKinley signs around my area of the district. I walked my neighborhood and passed out palm cards. All of this may not be enough to unseat the 28 year incumbent, but it sure feels good to be a part of it.
So if you happen to be reading this and live in either the 8th or 10th district in Virginia. Get out and vote for Vern and Amit. I’ll write again once all the votes are counted tomorrow night.

Readers of Liberty Maven know by now how much we adore Ron Paul and his message of freedom, prosperity, and peace. That does not mean we can’t be critical of him when circumstances call for it. Anyone who views the list of candidates Ron Paul has endorsed for office should notice something missing. He hasn’t endorsed a single candidate who is running against an incumbent Republican in a primary.
As a Ron Paul supporter of all the liberty minded candidates it greatly concerns me that Ron Paul has not endorsed some candidates who are close to 100% in line with his platform. A perfect example of this is the race in Virginia’s 10th District between Vern McKinley and incumbent Frank Wolf. Vern McKinley is about 90% aligned with Paul on the issues. Frank Wolf is an Iraq war supporter, who voted for both SCHIP and minimum wage increases along with the Democrats. Wolf voted against repealing the DC gun ban. Wolf voted for Bush’s prescription drug plan. Wolf just had a bill that he sponsored signed into law by President Bush that will make property rights advocates vomit.

Both Vern McKinley and Amit Singh, Virginia Ron Paul Republicans, have picked up endorsements from the Republican Liberty Caucus of Virginia. This is not surprising but it certainly validates both of the candidates and their messages of liberty.

Mark Ellmore is Amit Singh’s Republican primary opponent in Virginia’s 8th district. Last week an author at North Star Writer’s group interviewed Amit Singh. This week it is Ellmore’s turn. Disclosure: Liberty Maven has endorsed Amit Singh in the race, and a few of the answers by Ellmore demonstrate why we chose to endorse Singh.
P.I.: There have been some questions about your stance on border security. Would you support building a wall along the border, a virtual fence or a combination of both?
M.E.: I have always been an ardent supporter of constructing a fence along the border. A border fence is the most practical solution and a good start at solving the illegal immigration crisis. (emphasis/sarcasm mine)

Big news from the Amit Singh For Congress campaign. In conjunction with an endorsement from Ron Paul they announce a money bomb. They’re calling it the Lunch Bomb and have a fun and horribly acted video to go along with the money bomb and endorsement. Amit isn’t running for Hollywood, and we all know Ron Paul is nothing but genuine so seeing this pair try to act just adds to the charm.
To check out the video and pledge for the “lunch bomb” on May 15th, check out the lunch bomb web site. You can even choose what they (Ron and Amit) will have for lunch, because apparently, they can’t agree.

Amit Singh, Republican Congressional candidate for Virginia’s 8th District was interviewed by Paul Ibrahim as part of the North Star Writers group. Many national and local topics were covered.
Paul Ibrahim (P.I.): Mr. Singh, thank you for doing this interview. Can you, in one sentence, explain why you are running for Congress?
Amit Singh (A.S.): I am running for Congress because our politicians are leading America in the wrong direction and those who are supposed to use conservative solutions to get the country back on track are ignoring the core principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility and personal freedoms.

Earlier this week Amit Singh participated in a debate at George Mason University with his GOP primary opponent Mark Ellmore. Singh was interviewed earlier this year by us at Liberty Maven and earned our endorsement. The debate only reinforced our support for Singh. Probably the most interesting portion of the debate is when Ellmore claims he is a “Republican like… Ron Paul”. The video is in two parts. The first is about an hour. The second is about 30 minutes.
