Fund Raising

The Attack On Rand Paul Begins

We long time Ron Paul supporters got used to the typical underhanded attacks “our” candidate received during his Presidential bid. They became predictable and passé. Now that Rand Paul has proven he is a viable candidate in the 2010 Senatorial race in Kentucky similar attacks have begun.

With Ron Paul many of the attacks were leveled by the media itself. We even published a rather popular satire piece during the campaign called “The Official Media Guide To Attacking Ron Paul“.

Thus far with Rand Paul, most of the attacks are coming from the Left and the neo-conservative establishment friends of his Republican primary opponent Trey Grayson. The attacks themselves are quite typical.

The Left enjoys pointing out that white supremacist organizations have noticed Rand Paul’s campaign and support him. They like to point out that such extreme groups and individuals supporting Paul means that Paul himself somehow condones such beliefs. This is ludicrous. Guilt by association attacks are for the feeble-minded. No one, not even the Left’s Messiah Obama can control who chooses to support him.

Extremists like Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan both support Obama, but I don’t attack Obama because of it. Even though a much stronger case could be made for doing so due to the fact that Wright was Obama’s pastor and mentor for 20 years or so.

Believing in individual liberty and white supremacy are impossible bedfellows. Attacking Rand Paul this way tells us more about the attacker than the attacked.

The attacks from his own party are right out of the political attack playbook. What makes it humorous this time is that the charges against Rand Paul suggesting he isn’t a “real Republican” could be more easily made against his opponent. Trey Grayson used to be a Democrat and campaigned for Bill Clinton in the 90′s. At that time Rand Paul was busy founding an anti-tax group in Kentucky.

Rand Paul Raises Over $433K During Money Bomb!

August 21st, 2009 12:22 am  |  by  |  Published in Activism, Fund Raising, Rand Paul  |  1

Long live the liberty revolution! Yesterday, which ended a few minutes ago saw Rand Paul raise $433,509.00 in a single day for his run for U.S. Senate to represent Kentucky.

This is HUGE! Trey Grayson should be worried. This gives his campaign a total of over $667k, about two-thirds of which was raised in the last 24 hours. The current total can always be seen at RandPaul2010.com.

Hopefully this fund raising success receives some publicity both in Kentucky and nationally.

Congratulations Rand on a successful money bomb on your father’s birthday!

Rand Paul raises over $183,000 during first 12 hours of money bomb

The first 12 hours of Rand Paul’s money bomb are in the record books and so far it looks good for the limited government political outsider from Kentucky. His campaign war chest has amassed more than $183,000 in the first half of the grass roots initiated money bomb. Like the site RonPaulGraphs did during his father’s money bombs the site RandPaulGraphs is tracking the accumulating dollars.

Here is a screenshot at the halfway point:

12hour-rand-mb

This amount now gives him over $425k (and counting). Rand Paul also took some time this morning to publish a video thanking supporters for the money bomb and discussing the poll released this week showing him within striking distance of the establishment candidate Trey Grayson.

I’d call raising any amount over 250k in a single day a huge success in this economy. So far it looks like that amount will be exceeded. If you believe in liberty and limited government please donate. Rand has a great chance of becoming another voice for freedom on Capitol Hill. We simply can’t afford to NOT have him there fighting for us.

Peter raises a Schiff load during money bomb

August 8th, 2009 3:17 pm  |  by  |  Published in Activism, congress, Election, Fund Raising, Liberty, Peter Schiff  |  1

I apologize for the obvious headline. I couldn’t resist. It’s beginning to look like Peter Schiff may run against Chris Dodd in 2010. The Schiffathon, a money bomb held yesterday and continuing today has helped Schiff’s exploratory committee raise over $750,000 dollars in total for his potential campaign thus far.

Once the $750k was reached a small thank you message was displayed on his website and a new goal of $850k was created. While the sum of money isn’t as great, it is reminiscent of those huge money bombs for Ron Paul back in the primary season of 2007 and 2008.

Given the amount of enthusiasm for Schiff running against Dodd along with the fund raising it is hard to believe Peter won’t officially declare his candidacy at some point soon. An announcement either way may come around Labor day weekend according to Schiff.

Quick Hits: Sotomayor, Clunkers, Barack Wilson, Liberty Candidates, and Random Thoughts

There’s a lot to be unhappy about this week if you believe in individual liberty and free markets.

Sonia Sotomayor becomes the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice. She was confirmed and it wasn’t even close, as expected. Souter is out and Sotomayor is in. It seems like a wash to me. The next Supreme Court appointee will be the more interesting one.

The Cash For Clunkers program gets added funds. The Senate approved 2 billion more dollars we don’t have to destroy cars that get poor gas mileage and subsidize the purchase of cars that get better gas mileage. For those that don’t “feel” like understanding economics, John Stossel demonstrates why this program is yet another wasteful boondoggle. Did you know that you can buy a brand new Hummer with your neighbor’s money?

An amendment to the additional money for the Cash for Clunkers program by Senator Coburn would have permitted dealers to donate the traded clunkers to charities and the poor. I say would have because the amendment was defeated by the Democrats. I was under the impression the Democrats cared about the poor? It appears they care about appeasing the environmental lobbyists more.

In response to the massive opposition to Obama’s health care plan the White House has taken another page out of Woodrow Wilson’s playbook. In a modernized version of Wilson’s American Protective League the White House would like you to report “fishy” media content that disagrees with Obama’s health care plan. Feel free to report this article. The email address is flag@whitehouse.gov.

Here is the White House Health Care propaganda page. Am I being unfair labeling it as propaganda? Well here is Obama in 2003 arguing with himself.

Hmmm, that second video link seems “fishy”. Perhaps it should be reported. Obama’s America is becoming more scary by the day.

Republican Revolutionary Rand Paul Announces and the Media Blitz Begins

Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul, announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate yesterday on the Neil Cavuto show. There were reports he would announce on the Glenn Beck show but that didn’t work out. He also appeared on Happy Hour on the Fox Business Channel along with Peter Schiff and Judge Napolitano discussing why he’s running as a Republican vs. an Independent as Cody Willard wishes.

He is also scheduled to be on with Glenn Beck this morning on Beck’s radio show.

I’ve said this before, but the more I see and hear Rand Paul the more I like him and think he’d be a wonderful addition to the U.S. Senate. Don’t forget to pledge and donate during the RunRandRun money bomb on August 20th.

Chris Dodd is about to get hit by a Schiff storm

July 27th, 2009 8:15 am  |  by  |  Published in Activism, Big Government, Election, Free Market, Fund Raising, Liberty, Maven Commentary, Peter Schiff, Politics, Ron Paul  |  7 Responses

Chris Dodd’s days may be numbered. That is, if Peter Schiff and legions of his supporters have anything to say about it.

Peter Schiff has been contemplating a run for Dodd’s seat in the U.S. Senate representing Connecticut. Dodd is up for re-election in 2010 and is on shaky ground after his unwavering support of establishment DC politics.

Peter Schiff has become known (justifiably) as the guy who predicted the economic crisis. His assertions were mocked and ridiculed back in 2005/2006 when he had the audacity to suggest that the U.S. housing market was ready for a collapse.

Now that he’s been proven right people have been clamoring for him to run against Senator Dodd. He’s taken the first step toward that end by forming an exploratory committee in order to gauge the true interest in his potential campaign. That interest will be determined by the number of digits following the dollar signs donated to his exploratory committee. Yes, that means you need to part ways with some money if you want Schiff to run for office. It is the brutal truth that it takes money to win, especially in such a high profile election.

[UPDATE  (by Mike Miller): If you donate to Peter Schiff's exploratory committee, and it turns out that he does not run for office, your donation will be returned to you.]

The Peter Schiff money bomb has been set for August 7th, 2009. The website is Schiffathon.com. The details from the site:

This will be a week long promotion to gain support. On August 1st 2009 RevolutionBroadcasting.com will be hosting a Jerry Lewis style telethon that will feature many great guests well known to the patriot movement. The Schiffathon leads up to the official moneybomb on August 7th 2009, please pledge to show your support for Peter Schiff and his bid for US Senate against Christopher Dodd in 2010.

So please prepare yourself to donate on August 7th if you’d like to have a chance at getting a friend of Ron Paul (politically and personally) into the Senate. For an excellent Peter Schiff video check out this one promoting the money bomb.

Quick Hits: Health Care, Ron Paul Candidates, Sotomayor, and random thoughts

Obama has more or less dictated to America that there will be health care reform whether we like it or not. Well, those of us paying attention don’t like it one bit. Most of us agree that something must be done to make health care more affordable and thereby make it available to the huddled masses, the un-huddled rich 1%, and the semi-huddled in between. There could not be further disagreement about how we accomplish it.

Most on the Left argue from emotion:

“It doesn’t matter if it’s not Constitutional, people who are sick need help.”

Those on the Right attempt logic:

“Passing health care reform as the Democrats wish will only bankrupt America more than it already is.”

The Bill of Rights numerates our natural rights as human beings. It does not grant us rights. The last time I read the Bill of Rights I did not see any mention of health care as a natural right. In fact, access to health care is no more a right than access to food. That may be cold, but it is the truth.

Another Ron Paul style money bomb for your liberty loving heart

June 19th, 2009 9:50 am  |  by  |  Published in Activism, Constitution, Fund Raising, Liberty, Ron Paul, Ron Paul Republicans  |  1

Today is the RJ Harris money bomb. He’s a true Ron Paul Republican and steadfast Constitutionalist.

From RJHarris2010.com:

I have served our country on three deployments: one for a peacekeeping mission in Korea and two for the Iraq war. Both of the war deployments were with the Army National Guard. Additionally, I have used my military Air Traffic Control Training to work for the Federal Aviation Administration. Desiring at one point to try my hand in business, I founded a small chain of games/toy stores, which unfortunately did not survive the economic downturn of 2001. In 2006, I decided to return to college to make a civilian career change from aviation to law; although, I do continue my aviation career in the Oklahoma Army National Guard as an Air Traffic Control Platoon Leader for two Platoons in the 1-245th Aviation Regiment. I completed the undergraduate portion of my education in Philosophy this past May at the University of Oklahoma. Currently, I am a First Year Law Student at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

The primary mission of this campaign is to elect a Constitutional Conservative to represent the people of the 4th Oklahoma Congressional District.

Harris also had an excellent appearance on Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano earlier this year. If you believe in the Constitution then please send a few dollars to RJ Harris 2010 today.

BJ Lawson (“Ron Paul Jr.”) Set to Run Again in NC

June 14th, 2009 12:59 am  |  by  |  Published in Activism, BJ Lawson, BJ Lawson Interview, Constitution, Election, Fund Raising, Liberty, Politics, Ron Paul, Ron Paul Republicans  |  2 Responses

If you like Ron Paul but yearn for a younger Constitution-loving candidate, no better choice comes to mind than B.J. Lawson.  We at Liberty Maven were singing his praises before he handily won the inaugural Liberty Straw Poll back on September 17th by an overwhelming margin (better than 4 to 1 over the runner-up).

We rated Lawson on the Paul-O-Meter (in which we compared his policies and voting record to those of Ron Paul) and weren’t too surprised that he scored a 91 out of a possible 99 points (thus cementing his “Ron Paul Jr.” nickname).

Ron Paul himself has even campaigned for him and remarked on Lawson’s nickname by saying:

A lot of folks have begun calling B.J. Lawson the next Ron Paul. The comparison is very flattering. . . for me.

In the election BJ garnered 37% of the vote, which is quite a feat considering his district (4th) in North Carolina is strongly Democratic.

And according to the local press, BJ Lawson is planning to give it another shot.  He’ll be opposing Rep. David Price next fall.  Expect an announcement on his web site (www.lawsonforcongress.com) some time next week.

In the meantime, for more information, take a look at our interviews with BJ last year: Part 1 |Part 2 and then get ready for another money bomb.
