It is Trey Grayson vs. Rand Paul in the event known as the KentuckyFight. It’s not a battle of fists, but a battle of funds. Sure, Rand is Ron Paul’s son, but when was the last time Ron Paul was labeled an insider by anyone?

The event was spawned due to the anger many felt toward Grayson for allowing his fellow Republican insiders to hold a $500/person fund raiser in Washington DC. The act of fund raising isn’t the problem. The problem is that Rand Paul is a Republican too and many of the incumbent Senators attending the Grayson fund raiser voted for last fall’s bailout. This reinforces the notion that Grayson has no intention of being fiscally conservative with our tax money.

So, the grassroots supporters of Paul decided to hold a brilliant fund raiser of their own. It’s another money bomb in an effort to raise more money than Grayson raises at his “i’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” fund raiser. Ron Paul’s supporters are fully backing his son. Given this it is not a question of if the money bomb will raise more than Grayson, but by how much.

Beginning at midnight tonight and ending at midnight tomorrow night, September 23rd, please donate to Rand Paul and send a message to Grayson and his political elitist friends. Let them know that small government is not just rhetoric. It is a philosophy that we demand of our elected officials.

With Ron Paul many of the attacks were leveled by the media itself. We even published a rather popular satire piece during the campaign called “The Official Media Guide To Attacking Ron Paul“.

Thus far with Rand Paul, most of the attacks are coming from the Left and the neo-conservative establishment friends of his Republican primary opponent Trey Grayson. The attacks themselves are quite typical.

The Left enjoys pointing out that white supremacist organizations have noticed Rand Paul’s campaign and support him. They like to point out that such extreme groups and individuals supporting Paul means that Paul himself somehow condones such beliefs. This is ludicrous. Guilt by association attacks are for the feeble-minded. No one, not even the Left’s Messiah Obama can control who chooses to support him.

Extremists like Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan both support Obama, but I don’t attack Obama because of it. Even though a much stronger case could be made for doing so due to the fact that Wright was Obama’s pastor and mentor for 20 years or so.

Believing in individual liberty and white supremacy are impossible bedfellows. Attacking Rand Paul this way tells us more about the attacker than the attacked.

The attacks from his own party are right out of the political attack playbook. What makes it humorous this time is that the charges against Rand Paul suggesting he isn’t a “real Republican” could be more easily made against his opponent. Trey Grayson used to be a Democrat and campaigned for Bill Clinton in the 90’s. At that time Rand Paul was busy founding an anti-tax group in Kentucky.

Grayson is to the left of George W. Bush and John McCain, two names that don’t exactly warm conservative Republicans hearts. Rand Paul is more like a Goldwater/Reagan Republican. He actually talks about term limits, cutting spending, and having a balanced budget. He doesn’t just deliver sound bites about lower taxes. Here is his excellent speech at a recent fund raiser in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

I’ll let you be the judge on which candidate is the “real” Republican.

As Rand Paul raises more and more money he will be attacked more and more. In today’s political climate being an establishment politician is more of a negative than in days past. To further illustrate the status quo vs. the anti-establishment fight another money bomb for Rand Paul has been scheduled. The money bomb will be held on the same day that Trey Grayson is having a $500 per plate fund raiser provided by his establishment GOP friends in DC.

On September 23rd, it is the KentuckyFight.com money bomb, also known as the “We The People” vs. the “DC Insiders” money bomb. The goal is to raise $500k for the day for Rand Paul’s campaign. The last money bomb yielded over $433k so the goal is achievable, but I would be surprised if the $500k is reached. I can’t blame anyone for aiming high though. Pledge today and help spread the word.

The more money the campaign raises the more vicious the attacks will become. Fighting the power makes the powerful uneasy and desperate. Rand Paul is fighting and has the best chance of any liberty candidate to actually win a U.S. Senate seat. In the name of freedom, let us help him be victorious.

This is HUGE! Trey Grayson should be worried. This gives his campaign a total of over $667k, about two-thirds of which was raised in the last 24 hours. The current total can always be seen at RandPaul2010.com.

Hopefully this fund raising success receives some publicity both in Kentucky and nationally.

Congratulations Rand on a successful money bomb on your father’s birthday!

This amount now gives him over $425k (and counting). Rand Paul also took some time this morning to publish a video thanking supporters for the money bomb and discussing the poll released this week showing him within striking distance of the establishment candidate Trey Grayson.

I’d call raising any amount over 250k in a single day a huge success in this economy. So far it looks like that amount will be exceeded. If you believe in liberty and limited government please donate. Rand has a great chance of becoming another voice for freedom on Capitol Hill. We simply can’t afford to NOT have him there fighting for us.

Once the $750k was reached a small thank you message was displayed on his website and a new goal of $850k was created. While the sum of money isn’t as great, it is reminiscent of those huge money bombs for Ron Paul back in the primary season of 2007 and 2008.

Given the amount of enthusiasm for Schiff running against Dodd along with the fund raising it is hard to believe Peter won’t officially declare his candidacy at some point soon. An announcement either way may come around Labor day weekend according to Schiff.

Sonia Sotomayor becomes the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice. She was confirmed and it wasn’t even close, as expected. Souter is out and Sotomayor is in. It seems like a wash to me. The next Supreme Court appointee will be the more interesting one.

The Cash For Clunkers program gets added funds. The Senate approved 2 billion more dollars we don’t have to destroy cars that get poor gas mileage and subsidize the purchase of cars that get better gas mileage. For those that don’t “feel” like understanding economics, John Stossel demonstrates why this program is yet another wasteful boondoggle. Did you know that you can buy a brand new Hummer with your neighbor’s money?

An amendment to the additional money for the Cash for Clunkers program by Senator Coburn would have permitted dealers to donate the traded clunkers to charities and the poor. I say would have because the amendment was defeated by the Democrats. I was under the impression the Democrats cared about the poor? It appears they care about appeasing the environmental lobbyists more.

In response to the massive opposition to Obama’s health care plan the White House has taken another page out of Woodrow Wilson’s playbook. In a modernized version of Wilson’s American Protective League the White House would like you to report “fishy” media content that disagrees with Obama’s health care plan. Feel free to report this article. The email address is flag@whitehouse.gov.

In happier news liberty candidates are readying themselves to lead the GOP to the promised land. Rand Paul officially announced his candidacy this week and has a money bomb planned for August 20th. Peter Schiff is gearing up and having what should be a big money bomb tomorrow: The Schiffathon.

Peter Schiff has been contemplating a run for Dodd’s seat in the U.S. Senate representing Connecticut. Dodd is up for re-election in 2010 and is on shaky ground after his unwavering support of establishment DC politics.

Peter Schiff has become known (justifiably) as the guy who predicted the economic crisis. His assertions were mocked and ridiculed back in 2005/2006 when he had the audacity to suggest that the U.S. housing market was ready for a collapse.

Now that he’s been proven right people have been clamoring for him to run against Senator Dodd. He’s taken the first step toward that end by forming an exploratory committee in order to gauge the true interest in his potential campaign. That interest will be determined by the number of digits following the dollar signs donated to his exploratory committee. Yes, that means you need to part ways with some money if you want Schiff to run for office. It is the brutal truth that it takes money to win, especially in such a high profile election.

“Passing health care reform as the Democrats wish will only bankrupt America more than it already is.”

The Bill of Rights numerates our natural rights as human beings. It does not grant us rights. The last time I read the Bill of Rights I did not see any mention of health care as a natural right. In fact, access to health care is no more a right than access to food. That may be cold, but it is the truth.

Fixing health care is quite easy. Repeal the third party payer system. Allow doctor’s to practice medicine rather than having to be experts in insurance bureaucracy. Allow the doctor and patient to handle their own health decisions, payments, etc. In short, restore the free market to health care. There is no perfect system, but a little competition could go a long way to reduce costs. And when costs go down more people are covered.

The road Obama is taking us leads to rationing, waiting lists, lower salaries for doctors and nurses, and higher costs. Those higher costs will be hidden in the form of new taxes as the government subsidizes the “public” health plan. Please contact your lawmakers and demand they vote against this nonsense. The good news is, if Obama’s version of health care reform becomes law, it’s going to be a painfully obvious failure. But by then it may be too late.

I have hope that America will elect someone in 2012 who will begin the repeal of all the damage Obama is doing now and Bush did last year. There’s been some news this week regarding some liberty loving candidates running for office. Adam Kokesh announced on Freedom Watch this week that he will be running for U.S. Congress as a Republican in New Mexico. Also on Freedom Watch, Peter Schiff stated that he will run if he sees enough support in the form of monetary contributions to his exploratory committee.

Rand Paul announced that he will decide on August 20th whether he will run or not. Much of that, apparently, will hinge upon the amount of money he can raise during a money bomb scheduled that day. Let’s make sure he gets a shed-load of money.

We rated Lawson on the Paul-O-Meter (in which we compared his policies and voting record to those of Ron Paul) and weren’t too surprised that he scored a 91 out of a possible 99 points (thus cementing his “Ron Paul Jr.” nickname).

Ron Paul himself has even campaigned for him and remarked on Lawson’s nickname by saying:

A lot of folks have begun calling B.J. Lawson the next Ron Paul. The comparison is very flattering. . . for me.

In the election BJ garnered 37% of the vote, which is quite a feat considering his district (4th) in North Carolina is strongly Democratic.

And according to the local press, BJ Lawson is planning to give it another shot.  He’ll be opposing Rep. David Price next fall.  Expect an announcement on his web site (www.lawsonforcongress.com) some time next week.
