He said he was going to “grow the party” yet he finished his comments with “if you don’t like it you can leave!” Yeah, that seems like a good way to grow the party Lindsey.

Paul is going about his business defending the Constitution and bringing the GOP to young American patriots through the Campaign For Liberty. Paul educates with his books like his most recent “End the Fed” and last year’s “The Revolution: A Manifesto“. Meanwhile neo-conservatives and strangers to logic like Graham attempt to grow the party by shouting down those that would support them if they had any principles at all.

It is this lack of integrity and principle on display right now. Graham is the worst of the lot. Integrity, honesty, and principle are the ideological fuel to grow the Republican Party. That is the fuel of Ron Paul. Utilizing the Lindsey Graham infested fuel has already been attempted and failed.

Last time I checked John McCain wasn’t the President of the U.S. Although he could certainly be described as an angry white guy. Hmmm… maybe that’s who Graham was talking about after all.

Similarly, when almost every conservative legislator, including a great many Democrats, supported a law to prevent gun-shops being sued for crimes committed with weapons they had sold legally, he voted against the measure on grounds that it represented a usurpation of jurisdiction from the 50 states

You can read the rest of it here. I don’t think many can argue with Hannan’s assertions about Dr. Paul in the piece. While there is some obvious disagreement on specific issues Hannan is obviously a Ron Paul fan.

The ACLU has now brought a lawsuit against the TSA on behalf of Steve Bierfleldt and CNN ran a report on the story during Wolf Blitzer’s “Situation Room” yesterday.

One has to believe at this point that HR1207, in some form, will be passed by the House of Representatives. This is one bipartisan regulatory bill we can fully get behind.

I have serious reservations about the efficacy of HR1207, but as I’ve stated in the past it is a good start down the road of transparency that we truly need. We can only hope that such transparency, if passed, forces the Federal Reserve into a position of making very careful choices about how it conducts its business.

I can think of no better phrase to sum up what all Americans should be.

We all should be spokespersons for liberty.

I find it interesting that she didn’t use Ron Paul’s name once during the interview, yet talked about his organization and his bill. I wonder why?

This post will be a hodgepodge of random thoughts I’ve had over the past week (or so) that never made it into an “official” article.

The topic of torture has been in the news and I find it fascinating because there are so many levels of arguments to the debate. No one put it more succinctly than Shepard Smith on a recent episode of Freedom Watch. The main arguments can be highlighted with a series of questions:

1. Is enhanced interrogation truly torture?
2. Is torture against the law?
3. Does torture work?
4. Is torture morally wrong?

Here are the answers:

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Not really, and it doesn’t really matter because…
4. Absolutely

I used to think everyone hounding me to “get on Twitter” was torture (wow, poor segue I know). Now that I’ve done so I wouldn’t say that I’m addicted necessarily, but I’ve certainly discovered a new world (in 140 characters or less or course). Most of our articles are automatically “tweeted” right when they are published. So feel free to follow me/us at @LibertyMaven and start using this social media tool to help spread the freedom message.

Speaking of Twitter (damn I’m good at these transitions), Rand Paul is on Twitter sending his followers updates about his potential Senate run. His father Ron is not. In fact it wouldn’t surprise me if someone were to ask Ron Paul if he twitters, he’d answer, “No I exercise daily and am in very good health.”

His organization, The Campaign For Liberty is on Twitter though. Check them out at @C4Liberty.

I hear that Freedom Watch may be on the verge of cracking the Fox News Channel lineup. Judge Andrew Napolitano is on Twitter. Check him out at @judgenap. One of his regular guests, Lew Rockwell, has also been known to tweet from time to time.

Yesterday morning I read the news about 4 people being arrested in a plot to bomb synagogues in New York. The arrested were apparently highly angry about the U.S. action in Afghanistan and wanted to conduct a bit of a jihad on their own. The reason I’m mentioning this is because of the idiotic comments from people like Mayor Bloomberg:

“This latest attempt to attack our freedoms shows that the homeland security threats against New York City are sadly all too real and underscores why we must remain vigilant in our efforts to prevent terrorism”

I’m certainly happy they caught these bastards. Perhaps they wouldn’t have dreamed of doing something earning that moniker if the U.S. actually focused our efforts targeting those who attacked us on 9/11. Instead, we invaded and are now occupying entire countries. No wonder these bastards became bastards. If China or Russia chose to invade and occupy Texas or Florida I’d imagine we’d be quite bastard-like ourselves.

Recently, Congress (lead by Democrats) voted to refuse funding for Obama to close Gitmo. A part of me wonders if this was the plan all along from the Obama administration. This way he doesn’t get fully blamed for not being able to close Gitmo by the end of the year. Or is this too conspiracy theory-ish?

I’ll end with a few of my own random thoughts. I tweeted these during the past couple weeks:

• What is more harmful to our Republic than the 2 party de-facto duopoly increasing State tyranny in the name of bipartisanship?

• Legalize, tax, and regulate prostitution? Sure, let’s turn something fun and exciting into a trip to the DMV. (actually a Mike Miller, @LibertarianMike re-tweet)

• A girl once told me that the term “states rights” is racist hate speech. Little did I know she’d be running the DHS one day.

• If I had a dollar for every year of the 96 years since the Fed was created I’d have an inflation-adjusted $4.57 now!

• Spreading democracy at gunpoint is an absurdity. Such attempts result in socialism, fascism, or elements of both

• Does being anti-Fed mean you are pro-anorexia? (some people didn’t get this, perhaps it’s too off the wall)

Meanwhile, I can just hear Ron Paul singing my embellished version of the song as he walks around Capitol Hill grinning from ear to ear thanks to the recent explosion of support for HR1207, his bill to audit the Federal Reserve. The news hit yesterday afternoon that there are now 88 cosponsors of the bill, an increase of 33 in the past 2 days. Perhaps all those “End The Fed” signs at the Tea Parties twisted the arms of some of Paul’s peers.

I finally got a response from my Congressman about HR1207. Congressman Frank Wolf responded by telling me he’d consider the bill when/if it comes up for a floor vote. Well, thanks for putting your neck out there Frank. My question was, “Will you either cosponsor or support HR1207?” I can only assume at this point his answer is no to both. Yet another reason to vote for whomever is opposing him in 2010.

During Freedom Watch yesterday Ron Paul claimed confidence that the bill would come up for a vote at some point this year. Judging by the recent explosion of support for it, I can see why he is a confident man. Perhaps not confident enough to break out into his own rendition of an old school rap song on the House floor, but we all know he’s singing on the inside.

Contact your representative right now and ask him/her to support HR1207 if they haven’t already done so. If they have, then call them up and thank them for supporting it. Ending the Fed has to start somewhere.

After contacting your lawmaker, be sure to preorder Ron Paul’s upcoming best seller, not suprisingly entitled, “End the Fed”.

In addition to Bierfeldt, joining the Judge for the discussion were Peter Schiff, Mike Ferguson, Lew Rockwell, Michael German (ACLU), and Michelle Muccio (Acton Institute). Apparently, Ron Paul was unable to participate this week marking the first time in 9 weeks that he’s been absent from the show.

While carrying Ron Paul bumper stickers, Campaign for Liberty staffer Steve Bierfeldt in St. Louis Airport.

ST LOUIS, MISSOURI – Campaign for Liberty staffer Steve Bierfeldt was detained in the St. Louis Airport last week by Transportation Security Administration officials for carrying $4,700 in cash in campaign contributions.   Due to a recent posting by the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) sent to Missouri law enforcement authorities that labeled C4L supporters of Texas Congressman Ron Paul as terrorist threats (see page 7/8), Bierfeldt first attempted to ascertain whether he was legally required to answer their questions regarding the origins of the cash.  Unbeknownst to the TSA officials, Bierfeldt was able to tape the conversation on his iPhone per the Washington Times as they threatened to deliver him to the FBI and DEA.

“You want to play smartass, and I’m not going to play your ****ing game,” a TSA official had told Bierfeldt during the playback aired on Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch show.

Strangely as Bierfeldt was being forced to move by the TSA officials to go to the DEA/FBI offices, an unidentified officer approached him and inquired whether Bierfeldt worked for Ron Paul and whether the cash he had were campaign contributions.  After answering “yes” Bierfeldt was released and even managed to make his flight.  Bierfeldt pointed out in his talk with Judge Napolitano requiring all citizens to inform government officials of the origins of their money upon request is a violation of civil liberties.

Since the TSA officials did not state probable cause to inquire about the carried cash, Bierfeldt’s treatment was unconstitutional under the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution which reads:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Concerning the MIAC report, Missouri State Highway Patrol had issued an apology and officially rescinded it on March 25.

My suggestion of the day is to require all government officials and members of the military to carry a copy of the Constitution along with their identification badges while at work. Perhaps one day they will read it.

You can watch that segment isolated here. It seems these guys didn’t get the word that the MIAC document was retracted. Yet more evidence that we live in the land of the unfree.

Paul opens by admitting he didn’t watch Obama’s press conference last night and asks the host  to let him know if he said something special. The host admits that Obama said nothing “terribly special”.

A large portion of the interview focuses on the financial system. Paul discusses his own beliefs for the future of the U.S. economy and the dollar.
