Why Rand Paul Will Win

Ron Paul’s son Rand Paul will be the next U.S. Senator from Kentucky once the 2010 elections are over. My confidence in this outcome is inversely proportional to the confidence I had that Ron Paul would become our next President in 2008. I certainly had hope for the elder Paul, but political reality has a way of usurping hope. When it comes to Rand Paul in 2010, I am both politically confident and supremely hopeful.
There are three main reasons to feel this way about Rand Paul’s prospects: public sentiment, fund raising, and the “it” factor.
It’s no secret that the majority of the general populace is unsatisfied with our elected officials. Rand Paul has presented himself as being part of that disgruntled general populace. He’s a DC outsider. He’s not one of them. His rocketing rise in the polls is evidence that his anti-establishment message is resonating with voters. Public sentiment is not likely to change much in the next year. His main competition on the GOP side, Trey Grayson, is the establishment’s choice. In 2010 that is political cancer.
Paul has raised over $1.4 million. This is a hefty sum for an anti-status-quo candidate. In this day and age fund raising is a sign of viability. This amount shows that he is more than viable, but more will be required if he is to go head to head with the establishment. You can help him in this effort by donating during the next mass donation day. It’s scheduled for this Wednesday, December 16th. It is the anniversary of his father’s hugely successful Tea Party themed money bomb. Go to RandsTeaParty.com to pledge and donate at his official campaign site on Wednesday.
Perhaps the largest reason Rand Paul will become Kentucky’s next Senator is that Paul has “it”. What is “it”? Call it charm, call it charisma, but whatever “it” is, Paul has it. He speaks eloquently and with authority when outlining his positions for voters. He’s likable and has mass appeal. He is (dare I say) like a 2009 conservative-libertarian version of Barack Obama circa 2004.
These are the main reasons I believe Rand Paul will win in 2010. If he wins, then “real change” wins. If he wins, then liberty wins. If he wins, then freedom wins. If he wins, we all win, whether some of us know it or not.
Help him win by pledging and participating in Rand’s Tea Party on Wednesday, December 16th, 2009.

I remain staggered by the fact that despite the overwhelming data, factual, and evidiential is that this country's social control construct, local, state, and federal, is graveyard dead. It isn't a democracy by the loosest of definitions. I doesn't serve the people, we've endured two coups de 'etat in a decade, we are in the largest debt per capita perhaps in human history, and despite all this, people still go to this 'rotting corpse' for recourse and help. The system is DEAD. It cannot be resurrected, nor should it be. There's no writing your "representatives." There aren't any. What is the matter with you people. Are you so mentally challenged that you can even smell the odor of death in Washington. These people represent the rich, always have, always will. Good god man! wake up.

tedbohne,
After I wake up, what do I do then? Get "active" by posting comments on message boards telling people to wake up without giving them any useful information about what to do once they open their eyes?
I'd rather do my very best to promote and encourage anyone within earshot (eyeshot?) to work within the system we have to work toward change. My reasoning is not that I believe I'll see major change within my lifetime, but I see it as the least worst option amongst a list of horrible ones.
Thanks for the comments,
Marc

In reading Dick Armey's interview with CBS, I was apalled by his conrinuing total disregard for Congressman Paul. In response to a question about Ronald Reagan's statement that libertarianism is the "heart and soul of conservativism" with a reference to Ron Paul, Army gave the usual Limbaugh-esque talking points that essentially say that it's too dangerous and complicated of a world for us to be burdened with Constitutionally-limited government. And this while (if the quote is complete) not acknowledging Paul by name or giving him any credit at all. It made me sick to my stomach. The neoconservative Republican Party of today will never get a vote from me. Neither of the major parties are worth a damn, and both are on the way to ruining us!

I had a disturbing dream that Rand Paul was kidnapped by the neocons, who promised him power if he would team up with Sarah Palin and speak in pro-war language. The reality is that he's still got the most honest Congressman in the whole country as a father, and that is very reassuring.

As the primary date approaches, expect Grayson to start attacking Rand based on his libertarian stances. It's going to get ugly. Then expect Ron Paul's supporters to get angry and respond with more donations. The question is, will it be enough to allow Rand to reach enough true conservatives to win?
