You don't support the troops if ….
What garbage.
The troops are under the control of civilian politicians in this country.
Disagreeing with the politicians that deploy the troops is not the same as not supporting the troops.
Because some people appear to have forgotten.
Politicians are scum of the earth. Especially the ones that deploy the troops.

Steven, I agree with you except for one thing: the concept of "winning" here.
As I see it, there's no way to truly win. We've already lost lots of lives. The best thing we could do is surgically aim for those SPECIFIC individuals who took part in the 9/11 attacks and bring them to justice. I fully agree with Harry Browne's sentiments that sending over a zillion troops and blowing everything to smithereens (killing hundreds of thousands of innocents in the process) in order to "get" the few guilty ones is not only a failure, but it clearly makes things worse. Since we've invaded a country had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks (Iraq) and killed so many innocent people (and lowered the lifespan of the average Iraqi seven years), our actions are obviously going to breed contempt. So what's going to happen again? More attacks against us. The cycle of aggression will go on forever. Brilliant.

As a retired military libertarian-Republican, I have one distinction to bring to the table: Under the widely understood libertarian concept of non-aggression, I agree that we should not initiate violence. I do not however, think that we should abandon our troops when they are–by legal contract–fighting a war at the direction of the commander-in-chief. What I mean is that we owe it to our troops that when we deploy them into harm's way, we support them 100%, or we get them out of danger, immediately. We owe them no less.

The Neocons–such as Dondero–through their ignorance got us into this mess. Reality requires that we win and then leave. No, bases, no 'presence' nothing more. Win and go. Those who have died for us and our freedom are owed no less.

Harry Browne "schooled me" on libertarianism. That's funny, cause I've been a LIBERTARIAN decades longer than Browne, who was a self-professed Anarchist who hated the Libertarian Party and all Libertarians for years, until he saw an opportunity to make a little doe in promoting gold and his investments newsletters as the Libertarian Party's Presidential candidate.

Anarchism does not equal Libertarian.

Hey LibertarianMike you better remove that "Libertarian" in front of your name. As far as I know, you've never lifted a goddmaned finger to help the libertarian movement out.

You earn your libertarian stripes by petitioning for the Libertarian Party, helping to elect libertarian Republican and Libertarian Party candidates for office, and supporting and donating to their campaigns, not by typing away at a keyboard.
