Joe Wilson is no hero for shouting out “You Lie!” during Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress last night. He was just being a good representative, for a change.
The words are constantly echoed “We must respect the office of the President”. But why? It’s not like the President is a King or a God. The “office” should be ridiculed constantly with what it has become.
George W. Bush had a shoe thrown at him by a foreign journalist. America’s shoe closets should be empty right now between what Bush did and Obama is now doing.
The office of the President deserves disrespect. The entire government deserves disrespect. Joe Wilson’s anger last night was quite representative of many of his constituents own feelings. That is part of his job description.
In fact, that type of dissent is every single American’s job description. WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to enforce the Constitution.
I don’t care if you are on the Left, Right, up, or down the essence of American patriotism is to denounce the State when it goes out of control with power.
There is a certain element of the pot calling the kettle black with what Joe Wilson did last night. Those on the Left and many on the Right are denouncing him. I think it’s quite amusing that America is talking about Joe Wilson today rather than Obama’s most recent effort to hypnotize America into accepting health care reform proposals that will hurt us more than heal us.
Yes, we’ll probably get some kind of health reform and both sides will claim victory. And once again Americans will get what they deserve and they’ll get it good and hard.
NOTE: Please note in the video link of the “You Lie” incident at 0:47 Obama accuses his detractors of lying saying, “It is a LIE, pure and simple”. Then at 1:27 Joe Wilson returns the charge back on Obama. I hereby declare this event as the “Health Care Liar Liar Pants on Fire Debate”.

Joe Wilson is a hero in my book. Obama used his postion to accuse every one who does not agree with him of lying and he got what he deserved. YEAH JOE WILSON. NOW WE HAVE JOE THE PLUMBER AND JOE THE REP.

You should be ashamed of advocating such childish behavior. President Obama, Bush, McCain or whomever it is all deserve respect regardless of desire to voice dissent. Being disruptive and disrespectful is not civil discourse, there is a time and a place for everything and this was not it. With attitudes such as yours it is no wonder that our representatives feel it appropriate to act so immature. Or perhaps you too, are in the insurance companies pockets?

I agree with Richard. I was saying it at home with my wife while watching this broadcast and wanted someone to speak out. I was impressed by his courage. I think more people, especially those in Congress, need to speak out and need to make their voices heard in a loud manner. The President is not a king and should not be treated as such. When Bush was the President, he was heckled by Democrats during joint sessions of Congress and was constantly called a liar by Democrats and others. Why is Obama treated any differently. WAY TO GO JOE!

Hey! Look at your property taxes-if you pay for a health district in your county, you are paying for care for illegal aliens, now. There's a government program called 1110-it reimburses doctors and hospitals for care given to illegal aliens, right now. To do nothing is to continue what we've been doing-providing free care to illegal aliens. It's all well and good to be suspicious of government, but we recently had a President who essentially suspended the writ of habeus corpus, he suspended the 4th and 14th Amendments to the Bill or Rights and he called the Constitution a "G-D piece of paper" and you did NOTHING. So, really, what kind of patriot are you?

The only thing Joe Wilson represented with his comment is disrespect for the American system and lack of civility towards the elected president. There is a time and a place to show opposition to the Presidents plan. During a speech and on national TV is not this place. Educated, intelligent people of both parties will agree that this outburst was completely out of line. Yes, we must defend the constitution, but we must also be civil and respectful of one another if an agreement is to be reached. Marc, you are the problem with this country. You are entitled to your views and you deserve to be heard, but by defending Joe Wilson's incredibly rude actions, you clearly display your utter lack of intelligence.

Democrats shouted "NO" during a W speech in 2005 re: dumping Social Security in the stock market – "you lie!" is much more offensive. Not to mention, had we dumped all that Social Security in the stock market, we'd have nothing now. Not that we have a lot now, but there are people still collecting Social Security.

There was nothing courageous about what Joe Wilson did. If he had held his tongue, he could have presented some alternative ideas in the proper setting. Making a scene in the middle of a Presidential speech is just rude, and made Joe Wilson look like a hot-headed idiot. You're a disgrace to the fine state of South Carolina.

joe wilson, i appreciated what you did. the independent/conservative have been look at by left/liberal as push overs. this year change a lot of us. we are willing to come out and voice our opinions with confidence, yes, regardless if it seems unruly. these socialist comes out blazing but they expect us to be kindly and gently like some sheep. patriots, we are in the fight for our way of life ! i am not going to be bully anymore by these radicals. thank you, for standing for us.

Joe Wilson is a hero – and demonstrated the ONLY courage in the hen's nest of a Congress we now have. Democrats approve & worship everything the comes from Obama's mouth, and our Republic representatives rarely if EVER demonstrate the sort of courage the Joe Wilson demonstrated this last evening.
JOE WILSON is a hero! He correctly represented his constituents by ACCURATELY articulating their frustration with the Obama Socialization of America.
I may move to South Carolina if this is typical of their representatives.

Not a hero, but his accusation of "liar" to Obama does not apply to this situation but it may apply to Obama in general right now as his presidency thus far has not been consistent with his campaign promises.

I disagree, James Blank. Joe the Congressman's comment clearly reflected the views and convictions of his constituents. He should have never apologized. President Obama IS A LIAR! And if the issues weren't so important, and such an infringement to our Liberties & Freedom, your goofy point might be palatable. However, when our country is on the verge of a Socialist take-over, NOW is the time for courage by our Congressman!

Joe Wilson, The Congressman who he and his family have been sucking on the government teet his entire life. His own health care has been paid for by the government as has his wife and kids. His kids are still on the government teet. Let's see him renounce his congressional health care. (it is public option by the way), He also did not apologize. In his brief interview he said, "the leadership told me to call the president, so I did". If he is still in the National Guard, he disrespected his commander in chief. I guess all military personnel should be allowed to do the same thing. Obama did call out the liars and looked them in the eye. I loved that he said he would continue to call out the liars. The Republicans want nothing more than to pimp for Big Insurance. Big Insurance are the real "Death Panels".
Change the channel from Rush and Fox and watch your I.Q. go up a few points.

Those with "lower IQs" as you say are not those of us that realize it isn't a game between Republicans and Democrats. It is fundamental choice between a heavy-handed near-tyrannical government and an extremely limited government that only does what is permitted under the Constitution.
All of you who cheer for the Red team or the Blue team need to realize this isn't a game where we choose sides and win. Choose either of those teams and you will lose every time. If we could somehow learn to ignore the teams and just pay attention to the words and writings of our Founders we'd be in a much better place.

I certainly was screaming against Bush for most of the last 8 years. The only evidence I can give you is my writings on this site for more than the past 2 of those years. Obama being a Constitutional scholar, should know better, but he obviously subscribes to the "living breathing" version which is equivalent to a dead version.
Your heart is certainly in the right place, but the methods you suggest are misguided. Anyone who has compassion for other human beings (as I certainly do) are free to do everything in their power to help the sick and dying. The problem arises when a third party compels someone to do it through force. In this case, that 3rd party is the government, which (by the way) has been responsible for more dead and injured than all the big and bad health care companies combined.
Taking something from one person and giving it to someone else is not noble. It is theft. It is not somehow magically noble or morally proper if the government does it.
Jesus healed the sick voluntarily because he had compassion not because the government made him do it.
We are all individuals floating on the Big Blue Marble for sure and we should do all we can to help our fellow men/women. It should be voluntary though.
If A robs B and gives it to C how does this help B? How is compassion being shown to B? There is none of course. Now, if B feels he has the ability, should probably help C if C is in a bad way, but A should have NO say in the matter at all.
Even with the government forcing me to give up almost 50% of my income I still am able to find some left over (not very much) to donate to charity every year. I would donate MUCH more if I didn't feel like I was already being FORCED to donate to the horribly run charity known as the government.

Wow – such animosity toward Marc Gallagher! Seems people either hero worship Obama – and can see no wrong or see all the flaws. This blog is about liberty. Freedom of speech goes along with that. I guess those slamming Joe Wilson and Marc Gallagher are not fans of freedom of speech. Then again, Obama's actions are all about state control, and not about freedom….
