[...] “The GOP needs brand new blood with Old Right roots. They need a person who has the political integrity and consistency of Ron Paul….,” claims Marc Gallager of Liberty Maven, and I would agree. We must return what is left of the GOP to our conservative roots, and not toward the moderate message of the democrats. Those seeking re-election by promising big government projects should follow Mr. Specter and switch parties. When the moderates control both of the major parties, there is no party for the people. Mr. Gallager also suggests that Dr. Rand Paul is one of three possible torch carriers for our party’s future! Read the full article. [...]

Sanford supported McCain, rather than Paul, in the primaries. Sanford may strike an old right tone, just as George W Bush did when campaigning against Gore. But if elected, I expect that Sanford's actions would be more aligned with McCain than with Paul. Ron Paul is the best bet to deliver limited government, rather than just delivering limited government rhetoric.

Lets let Ron Paul give us his suggestions too. By the way, he voted for Chuck Baldwin. Many real conservatives that listen to Baldwin think hes pretty good at predicting the future

Yes, the majority of the GOP who favor the drug war are wrong. There is too much evidence to believe otherwise. I perhaps chose the wrong words with the Limbaugh comment, I guess it was an accidental "pun" of sorts, but my meaning was that making Limbaugh THE GOP leader must mean you are on drugs/crazy/etc..

Limbaugh has been a supporter of the drug war in the past. I don't know where he stands now, but that is immaterial to my point. The point is he is not a unifying figure for the GOP around Old Right principles. He is a polarizing figure and will turn just as many people away from the GOP as he will attract.

Enjoy,
Marc

I don't quite get the Limbaugh reference. Presumably you think the majority of the GOP who favor the drug war are wrong. At any rate, the 3 potential leaders you tout all oppose the drug war, with Johnson in particular being especially open about his own drug use. There are plenty of things not to like about Limbaugh, but the fact that he's had problems with prescription drugs and does not share the rest of the party's addiction to the war on drugs is not one of them.
