Man swears in court affidavit he’d rather count wrinkles on his dog’s balls than serve on jury

Given that much of our justice system has become a joke these days, it’s understandable when people are annoyed at getting selected for jury duty. Personally, I often fantasize about wiping my rear end with the paper and sending it back to them, but (lucky for me) I never have the courage to go through with it.
Enter Eric Slye of Gallatin county in Montana. He had no interest in playing nice, it appears:

I can understand these feelings, but one of your most powerful checks and balances against a tyrannical government is your Jury Nullification Right to judge not just the facts, but the law itself and if you think the law is bad or the punishment does not fit the crime then you not only can but must vote innocent. This is to stop the courtroom politicians, prosecutor and judge from stealing someones person/liberty, life and property. Please visit the webite for the Fully Informed Jury Association at http://www.FIJA.ORG . Also please read" The Law" by Frederic Bastiat for a good read and a better understanding of good law vs bad law.

Well, most jurors just don't understanding the legal system well enough to make a informed verdict. It's just the way I see things.

@liberyjack, I went to FIJA.org and read most of the essay on 'Jury Nullification'. Very good reading. Definitely recommended. I've been meaning to get around to understanding the constitutional and libertarian conceptions of trial by jury and this was a big piece to the puzzle. I also enjoyed this Mises article on government-mandated jury service: http://mises.org/story/238

Tall Pat, please go to http://www.fija.org and check out the info. If you understand the power of what you read then join up or download the adobe files for printing up B&W brochures about Jury Rights and go on down to your local, state and or Fed courthouses and hand them out to the uninformed, government schooled, masses. The life, liberty and property you save may be your own!
