Wead Smokes Some High Grade Ron Paul

Or do I have that backwards? No, I’m right. Doug Wead shares my own sentiment (and likely many others) that for America to elect Ron Paul or someone like Ron Paul things will have to get worse.
Well, things are certainly getting worse. Will it ever get to the point where people will start taking Ron Paul seriously as a Presidential candidate? I don’t know, but as we sit here today in the beginning stages of the second Great Depression, it is not out of the realm of belief.
Doug Wead, again floats the idea out there with the following:
Is there anyone who can save us from this insanity?
There is really only one option left. Ron Paul. It is a long shot, but if the madness goes far enough and the reaction sets in, the Paulistas just might stage a takeover of the Grand Old Party and Ron Paul would offer America a real choice. It’s a long shot. But four more years of this and America may actually be ready.
We are on this road. We can’t see beyond the horizon, but we certainly have an idea of what lies ahead. It’s not pretty.
It is rather unfortunate that we have to learn to accept the fact that the only path back to the principles which made America great is paved with economic calamity and social unrest, and constructed by a socialist steamroller.

I don't think it is that things necessarily need to get worse for Ron Paul to get elected. I think people need to get educated, and not by the government. Even if things get worse, if people don't understand why they are bad, and thus do not know the solution, they still won't know where to turn. Politicians will argue that it would be even worse if it wasn't for the damage they are inflicting. Those of us who understand economics need to be prepared to start our own free market schools when the education-industrial complex finally collapses. We need a Mises Institute in every major city.
I will say that I find it to be a positive indicator when South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford is accused of 2012 vote pandering by going against the federal spending orgy tide. This tells us that even the statists recognize there is a significant constituency that supports free markets.

Ahh… Mark… very very good points. I guess things getting very very bad is more of a quick fix like ripping off the band-aid fast. An educational effort is wonderful, but it takes longer. I'm not sure we have enough time, but I think pushing forward with the educational effort is an important (the most important) action item. Things getting worse and education will work in conjunction to point us in the right direction.
As things get worse and we take action to educate, then maybe things don't have to get ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE bad before we start shifting direction back toward freedom.

Everyone seems to beleive that there will be an election in 2012.
Anymore, I don't take that as a foregone conclusion.
It's been getting worse and worse since Bush I, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. I always had faith in my fellow citizens in spite of that, until now.
Long live Barak.

I guess this is why so many potheaded libertarians are drawn to Ron Paul. They live in fantasy dream lands disconnected to reality. Ron Paul is unelectable, and I'm a conservative saying that

"Everyone seems to beleive that there will be an election in 2012. "
I can't believe someone could be that paranoid.

Sounds like you ran out of Oxycotin. What, Xanax isn't strong enough anymore? Ignorant comments from you pill-poppin, Rush Limbaugh fans make me laugh.
