Is Ron Paul Too Old To Run For President?

For those who suggest that perhaps Ron Paul, who will be the ripe old age of 77 in 2012, will be too old to run for president again, Doug Wead has listed some compelling arguments to the contrary on his blog.
Is Congressman Ron Paul too old to run for president? He will be 77 in the year 2012.
Consider; Charles de Gaulle was president of France at the age of 79. Some say he was the greatest modern leader in French history.
Ditto for Konrad Adenhauer, declared by many to be the greatest president of the German Republic in its modern history. Compare him to Helmut Kohl, for example, who presided over the reunification of Germany and was in the process of a Shakespearian moment, with greatness thrust on him, only to self implode in the midst of a tawdry, greedy scandal. Adenhauer served Germany with wisdom and class until the age of 87.
Wead doesn’t mention the fact that Dr. Paul is in amazing shape for his age, largely due to the fact that he’s an avid byciclist. Even more reason to dismiss the “too old” argument. Continue reading his article here.

Thanks, I hadn’t seen that.
Of course it would be raised as an issue, but for me it’s a nonissue. Would you rather have any of the likely candidates with THEIR flaws, or Ron Paul, at age 77? As flaws in candidates go, these days, that is minor.
Which isn’t to say there wouldn’t have to be a strategy to address this when people try to marginalize him, and of course his VP would be important.
With his record he is so far above the rest, he spreads the message with a legitimacy no one else has, IMHO.

Regardless of whether he runs again or not, his shadow will loom large. His early endorsement of another candidate will resonate with those of us who support his principled views.
