Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and None Of The Above: Penn Jillette on Glenn Beck

Penn Jillette (everyone’s favorite magician/comedian/juggler libertarian) appeared on Glenn Beck’s TV show last night. Beck discussed his lack of satisfaction with “either” of the choices for President. Jillette quickly corrected him regarding his incorrect assumption and mentioned Bob Barr and Ron Paul.
Beck then agreed with Jillette and said that he will “probably vote” for Barr. He went on to say that he wants to send someone to cover Ron Paul’s Rally For The Republic in Minneapolis and wants to hear what the speakers at the event have to say except for one thing: about 10% of Ron Paul supporters “scare the living bejeezus” out of him.
Penn Jillette replies with logic as he so often does arguing that 10% is not too bad. He argues that you are always going to have “nuts” in a group and some of those “nuts” may think Beck is nuts.
Finally, limited government is discussed with Jillette suggesting that Beck and he would disagree on just how small government should be. Jillette even gets to say the word “anarcho-capitalism” on TV.
As a libertarian, seeing this kind of discussion on CNN warms my heart for the hope that some day there will be a libertarian minded President. As Jillette says, “when a libertarian gets elected”, not “if“.
So now that you’ve read the blow by blow go ahead and watch the interview below.
