John McCain promised to balance the budget by the end of his first term in office should he win the election in November. Once again McCain proves he is just another tired old politician. Why didn’t he vote against the current $3.1 trillion budget the Bush administration just proposed? Why does he have a history of voting for such outlandish budgets while promising to cut “pork barrel spending”? McCain’s votes on historical budget proposals helped Bush grow the government, much to the annoyance of many true limited government conservatives.
John McCain is economically illiterate and his record shows it. Even when McCain is caught in a lie like earlier this year he doesn’t own up to his mistake. There is a world of difference between McCain and Ron Paul. Ron Paul has an almost unblemished record on voting in accordance with the Constitution and voting against runaway spending budgets.
Libertarian Bob Barr has renounced his past evil votes for the most part. McCain stands by every one of his flippety floppy past votes. McCain is a chameleon and hardly a limited government conservative. Bob Barr has remade himself as a limited government Libertarian conservative like Ron Paul. Ignoring the potential for playing spoiler given a choice between Barr or McCain, Bob Barr wins my vote every time.

Gotta give some props to Barr’s Veep – despite what you might think about his style – Root’s been a successful businessman and has HAD to balance his budget.
