Why would we even consider Bob Barr. I mean I am a huge fan of Ron Paul and when they introduced Barr I thought who in the hell is this guy? Ron Paul was really smart in not running as a Libertarian only in the fact that he knew he would get no TV time if he did. the Feds took over the Debates after Ross Perot got to close in disrupting our 2 party Good Ol Boy network that is paralyzing and destroying Capitolism and the Middle Class.
The Media unfortunately manipulates all the thinking in the US. So if you are not one of the mainstream you are screwed.

>>"This article by Barr is a clear and forthright embrace
>> of the libertarian platform against the war on drugs. I
>>wonder if this will make the purists happy?

I respectfully disagree with this statement.
Although it is a laudable fledgling first attempt at being a libertarian.

His position however is not that the drug war is wrong per se, but wrong because it is impractical, too costly and has been ineffective.

Those are two positions, even if they lead up to the same conclusion, the drug ware is wrong, elucidates the difference between a non-libertarian position as Bob Barr takes up here, and a personal-rights based libetarian position - one that defends the right of people to do what they want with their own bodies.

Dear Marc,

Absolutly not!

Nothing will clear Barr from his actions OR, his Congressional voting record...But, it's still a free country, so by all means, you're welcome to embrace a faux Libertarian...

Since you so liberally use Ron Paul to benefit your cause and to sucker your readership for their support to vote for Barr...I will refer you to a recent post in the June 23, 2008 issue of the New American...
http://www.thenewamerican.com/node/8333

Jesse Benton, a spokesman for Ron Paul, said that his boss [Ron Paul] does not plan to recommed supporters to champion Barr. "Bob and Ron are former colleagues and they're friends" "BUT, that's where the relationship ends."

I'd say, that a very clear line drawn in the sand....

And by all means, keep trying to sucker your readership to support the faux Libertarian [Barr]. The more you try to beg forgiveness for his [voting record] sins, the more your readership may come to realize that voting for Barr will be a vote that will totally go against their conscience...and,
"Ron Paul does not plan to recommend his supporters to champion Barr."

I'd say that's a pretty good piece of advice.

Have fun!!
