Bob Barr On HBO’s Bill Maher Show Circa 2003

This is an appearance by Bob Barr on the HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher” from 2003 shorty after Barr lost his Congressional seat in Georgia. I am posting this because I find it interesting how anti-DC Barr is during this appearance. It also shows that Barr can be a pretty funny guy. Also, this is Barr at a time when he was grappling with his allegiance to his now former Republican Party. How perfect it is when Bill Maher retorts to a Barr joke with, “They really change when they get out of Congress.” Also interesting is Barr’s comment that then candidate for CA Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to win based on his celebrity status. Some may accuse Barr of playing a similar role by his candidacy today (not necessarily to win, but to garner more votes due to his name recognition).

I’m only posting the portions of the show where Barr appears, not the entire show. He comes in at about 4:15 in the first clip below.
