How Many Ron Paul’s Does It Take To Change The Country?

To some on the establishment right and left, Ron Paul’s Presidential candidacy is nothing but a joke. These are the type who always joined the mob and made fun of the perceived “weird” kid in grade school. They did it because the “weird” kid represented all the things about themselves they wished to keep secret. Ron Paul is the weird kid on Capitol Hill for the same reason.

In a true “Revenge Of The Nerds” moment his detractors began to take notice when he was able to raise so much money in the final quarter of 2007. Naturally, it was money that made the masses and the media notice him. No doubt Ron Paul himself wished it was his ideas on limited government, sound money, and non-interventionism that did the trick. If it were his ideas, we could be calling Ron Paul the presumptive GOP nominee rather than our friend McCain. Imagine how much more distaste the neo-conservative Republican establishment would have against us interlopers if that were the outcome.

When contemplating the failure of Ron Paul to get the nomination many short-sighted people throw their hands up in disgust and disengage as if the defeat is some kind of permanent death sentence for liberty. There are liberty minded Ron Paul Republicans running for office right now that we can support. Also, less than four years from now the next Presidential election campaign will kick in to full gear. Will Ron Paul run again? Probably not, but if we supporters are able to continue the aptly named “Revolution” through some efforts already underway, we may have a winning candidate to support.

One such effort is Freedom’s Ground. Freedom’s Ground aims to market a Constitution based government directly to the American people. Some of the people behind the Ron Paul Blimp started the organization. It seems they have transformed their wild idea into a no nonsense grassroots educational effort. It is this kind of effort that can help move minds towards the light of liberty.

Once enough minds are moved, we may see candidates elected that actually follow the Constitution as it was intended. In the past, I’ve written that the American people were not quite ready for Ron Paul. I also stated that the way of life in America will have to get much much worse before people wake up from their lives of excess slumber. I left no other possibilities to cause this enlightening. I was wrong.

Freedom’s Ground and other efforts like it can have a similar effect, if handled with vigilance and care. Waking up minds to these ideas while not associating them with a specific candidate will cause voters to demand these ideas from all candidates in the future. When Ron Paul tells his supporters that the Revolution is more about the message than the man, this is exactly what he is talking about. Any effort to get potential voters to demand candidates adhere to a strict interpretation of the Constitution is an effort worth supporting.

So how many Ron Paul’s does it take to change the country?

The answer is simple: all of us.
