It’s Not All About Ron Paul

Ron Paul supporters really need to realize that it isn’t all about Ron Paul. Sure there is mass disappointment that Ron Paul will not be the Republican nominee for President. There was genuine pain and sadness as each state held their primaries and caucuses and Ron Paul kept receiving under 10% of the vote with a few exceptions. Reality has set in and the reality is Ron Paul will not ever be President of the United States.

This does not mean the message of liberty has lost, it only means it has taken a punch to the gut. It is impossible to strike a fatal blow to liberty when there still exists a mass of citizens willing to fight back. It is true that some of those fanatical supporters of Ron Paul’s campaign have left. Perhaps being perpetual bandwagon jumpers is in their psychological makeup. If so, they can probably be found supporting Obama now.

The Ron Paul movement was never about Ron Paul, but about his message of freedom, prosperity, and peace. These are the three words Ron Paul himself used during his campaign. They represent the trinity of the liberty message.

Freedom relates mainly to the first and second amendments. The erosion of civil liberties is a dangerous path. Our leaders should take the lessons of our founders and always err on the side of freedom. Today, they seem to do just the opposite and err on the side of authority under the guise of safety and security. If the war on terror were a game, the terrorists would be winning. They score a point every time another liberty is taken away. This is exactly their purpose. If Osama Bin Laden was in Congress he would have voted for the Patriot Act, The Military Commissions Act, The Protect America Act (FISA), The Real ID Act, and all of the freedom stripping legislation Americans have come to accept as necessary to help fight terrorism and keep America secure. We are doing Bin Laden’s job for him. The only way to turn the game around is to keep liberty alive by repealing these anti-American laws.

When we talk of prosperity we talk economics. Our economy is based on the dollar. The dollar has been in a steady aggregate decline since the year the Federal Reserve was created. It became much worse after the gold standard was abolished. Now our entire economy is based on credit. Current day prosperity is a false idol. The federal government has a credit card with a $9 trillion balance. Until America’s elected officials get serious about limiting government spending and waste, that $9 trillion will only go up. Ron Paul’s prescription for prosperity is a perfect platform for our elected officials to adopt and advocate. It restores true free markets, lowers taxes, and encourages fair competition.

Lastly, the message is one of peace. Our foreign policy of intervention advocated by many recent administrations has done nothing but create enemies and give them incentive to recruit more. To utilize some grandfatherly terminology we are “getting bigger than our britches.” And as a corollary, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.” We are fast becoming a country similar to the one we fought against during the Revolutionary War. The tea of yesterday is the oil of today. We should leave other countries alone militarily unless we are attacked or an attack is truly imminent.

Ron Paul doesn’t own this message. He was the vessel for this message in the past year and will be for years to come. You are also a vessel for this message. Freedom in liberty, prosperity in the economy, and peace in foreign policy is the message. It is our beautiful burden. We share it with other American patriots. It is up to us not to “let freedom ring”, but to ring for freedom. Our country is in danger. We can save it as long as we focus on spreading the message rather than lamenting that the good doctor will not be President of the United States.

Tales of Ron Paul’s demise are greatly exaggerated. In case you have forgotten, the Republican nomination HAS NOT YET HAPPEN.

Let history be your guide, and review how Lincoln beat Seward. Myself and many other people have gotten Ron Paul delegates in place, and are effectively going to place a surprise/coup at the RNC. The message is still important, but your eyes should be on the prize: The presidency as a conservative Republican candidate.
