Ron Paul just after his Meet The Press appearance [Video]

December 23rd, 2007 11:08 pm  |  by  |  Published in Activism, Election, Politics, Ron Paul  |  0

For me this video is what it’s all about. Ron Paul takes time to meet with the supporters who showed up in the rain to wave signs outside of the studio where he appeared on Meet The Press. How can anyone not vote for this man?

MSNBC.com front page story on Ron Paul

December 23rd, 2007 3:20 pm  |  by  |  Published in Election, Media, Politics, Ron Paul  |  0

MSNBC.com shows a picture of Ron Paul on their front page with an AP article that seems to take a positive slant towards his appearance on Meet The Press.

WASHINGTON – Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul, appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, defended his efforts in Congress to bring home money to his Texas district, despite his long-held aversion to big government and congressional votes to reign in federal spending.

Here is Ron Paul’s appearance on Meet The Press with Tim Russert. As expected, it was a bit brutal but overall Ron Paul answered the questions like he always has. Not sure this will win over anyone on the fence, but it was certainly media exposure. The video is in 4 parts.

Great new video: Ron Paul Rising

December 22nd, 2007 10:39 pm  |  by  |  Published in Election, Fund Raising, Politics, Ron Paul, Video  |  0

We don’t post many YouTube videos any longer (unless we create them), but we do post the best ones. This is one of those. In fact, the creator of this video created another excellent video leading up to the Ron Paul Tea Party event called “Land Of The Free“. This one is called “Ron Paul Rising”. Nice job GHoeberX.

Soldier blogging from Iraq posts a moving letter to American voters

December 22nd, 2007 10:13 pm  |  by  |  Published in Activism, Election, Philosophy, Politics, Ron Paul, War  |  1

I do not know if this is legitimate or not, although after reading through all of the previous posts to this blog I tend to think it is completely legitimate and factual. This letter was posted at http://captainj0e.wordpress.com

Dear Voter,

My name is Joe. I am currently serving in my second deployment to Iraq as an Army officer. The biggest differences between this deployment and my last one are:

-The location (within Iraq)

-The Job (much busier : less free time/sleep)

-The duration (last deployment was 12 months, this one is 15)

I am sure you are wondering why some random soldier in Iraq would write you a letter… there are several reasons, but the primary one will be obvious by the end. First I’ll tell you a little about myself.

I’m 26 years old, I’ve been married for almost 7 years, and I have a son and a daughter in elementary school. I grew up in Georgia, but I live in Colorado Springs now. I come from a long line of military officers, so I was sort of “destined” to serve. Although I only have 3 ½ years in the Army, I’ve been wearing the uniform for 12 years (JROTC & ROTC). I have a degree in computer science and I’m a music & movie enthusiast.

Now that you know a little about me, I’d like to inform you on what Iraq is really like.

Iraq is a war-torn country in political and engineering shambles. When the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003, the intent was to remove Saddam Hussein from power. Once that was done, the military then targeted all Ba’athists (members of Saddam’s political party) because they were assumed to be loyal to Saddam. The problem with this “eradication” was the Ba’athists were the people who managed Iraq’s infrastructure. So our targeting caused the collapse of all of their water, power, sewage, oil, and transportation capabilities!

Also, because we dismantled their military, there was nobody to guard all of the thousands of artillery rounds and bullets that we stock-piled from Saddam’s Army. Where do you think the insurgents & terrorists got all of their weapons, ammo, and IED material to attack U.S. troops???

These are second-order effects of the U.S. policy to intervene in foreign countries. While our intentions might be good, Americans would be better off minding our own business and using diplomacy and trade to influence other nations.

Is Ron Paul prepared for Russert’s “Meet The Press”?

December 22nd, 2007 9:32 pm  |  by  |  Published in Election, Media, Politics, Ron Paul, Television  |  0

Ron Paul will appear on “Meet The Press” tomorrow morning with Tim Russert. Russert has a history of asking tough questions, but they are usually fair questions based on issues. It remains to be seen if this holds true tomorrow when he gets his shot at Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is always prepared for any interview because he’s not worried too much about “spinning” his answers. He just tells the truth as he sees it and this either causes  people to love him or hate him. Luckily for Ron Paul supporters it seems most people tend to love him after hearing him speak.

What makes the appearance tomorrow a bit more interesting is that this weekend was slated to be Mike Huckabee’s turn on Meet The Press, but he decided against it. So instead of someone who is a master of “spin” we get the no nonsense and direct Ron Paul.

I hope it’s a fair interview. We’ll know tomorrow morning on NBC at about 10:30am Eastern.

Ron Paul Derides Campaign “Central Planners” – Consultants Just Laugh

December 22nd, 2007 3:41 pm  |  by  |  Published in Activism, Election, Politics, Ron Paul  |  1

This is an article where once again we must consider its source. It comes from a magazine called “Campaigns and Elections” and is especially critical of Ron Paul’s grassroots campaign and its efficacy.

Come the end of next month, Republican Rep. Ron Paul has a real chance of being at the top of his party’s fourth quarter fundraising heap. Yes, Ron Paul. Just take a second to absorb that.

Only last month the political world was marveling at Paul’s $4.2 million internet fundraising haul in a single day; perhaps most amazed were Paul’s own campaign staff which had absolutely nothing to do with the effort. It was engineered by Paul supporter Trevor Lyman, who works out of a house in New Hampshire, where he lives with other Paul supporters.

This past weekend that $4.2 million was put to shame as Lyman led an effort that raised more than $6 million in one day. According to the campaign’s website, the congressman’s fourth quarter total now stands at more than $18 million.

This is a great speech and Q and A session with Ron Paul. It is in 6 parts and is about 50 minutes long. It is chock full of economics. At the end he answers a question about reshaping the U.S. intelligence agencies.
