Ron Paul trades words on tax evasion with Neil Cavuto

Before watching this interview I recall liking and respecting Neil Cavuto.  I was expecting him to be a Ron Paul supporter much like Tucker Carlson has been.  I couldn’t have been more wrong.

This video illustrates perfectly what many have suspected.  That is, Ron Paul is going to be painted as an extremist by the main stream media and the other Neo-con candidates.  Well, now that I think about it… perhaps Ron Paul is an extremist.  Even so, being an extremist doesn’t mean he is wrong. If nothing else he certainly has logic on his side.

The important part I think is when Cavuto asks, “What would happen if the entire country refused to pay their taxes?”  Ron Paul’s answer, “maybe then the government would take notice and do something to change the tax code.”  Not exact quotes, but the point is the same.

Also, Cavuto seemed to want to insinuate that Paul believes all taxes are bad.  Ron Paul remained calm, through interruption after interruption, and explained his position.

Finally, Cavuto kept attempting to paint Paul as an extremist by twisting Paul’s opinion of the Browns in NH who have refused to pay their taxes and are holed up in their home, refusing to come out to be arrested.

Ron Paul explains that it is their perogative to protest the tax code how they see fit, but they must live with the consequences of their method of protest.

I fear the average TV viewer will see this interview and be swayed in the anti-Ron Paul direction, even though Ron Paul logically replied to all of the twisted questions.  The truth these days seems to rarely matter.  The mere fact that the entire segment was Cavuto putting words into Paul’s mouth instead of an impartial discussion on the issues is serious cause for concern.  The “unfair and unbalanced” Fox news channel isn’t the first nor last to attack in this way.

I wish it could be about the issues rather than the media’s penchant for wanting to show everyone what a big dick they think they have.  In reality it’s not that they have big dicks, it’s that they are big dicks.  And luckily it’s pretty obvious, especially in this interview.
