I may have to rescind my last blog regarding Ron Paul…

I’ve now found two items online regarding Ron Paul. One is his post debate press release regarding his huge increase in “word of mouth” on the web. Available here.

The other is a link to just the Ron Paul bits from the over 90 minute debate. I like it because during the debate it seemed like he was being ignored at times. This video makes it seem like ALL the other candidates were ignored.

Here are my litmus test issues in preferential order for what MY candidate must/should posess:

  1. Support Major Federal Income Tax reform as either a Fair Tax or a Flat Tax.
  2. Ending our involvement in Iraq and other foreign countries we have no business being in. This does not mean isolationism. Free trade is good. Sending troops is not.
  3. A Free market business perspective without government intervention. Yes, That means NO NATIONAL HEALTH CARE.
  4. Repeal the Patriot Act and get the federal government out of our private lives.
  5. Open Immigration policy. Follow the words found on the Statue of Liberty. Some will argue that if we do this then Terrorist can come into our country to blow us up. Well, if we had a non-interventionist policy in foreign countries, Terrorists wouldn’t have a reason to enter our country to blow it up.
  6. Legalize marijuana. Pardon and release all non-violent drug offenders from prison.

The only one Ron Paul doesn’t meet my opinion on is number 5. He’s along the lines of Bush when it comes to immigration policy, but perhaps even more anti-illegal immigration. He would just get tough on illegal immigrants and deny amnesty, etc.. I can live with 5 out of 6. No other candidate in either party even comes close.

Good man, that Ron Paul is.
